2011-08-31 Textbooks

I want to own the university bookstore. They make so much money through ripping off poor students. This is why students are always so poor :( Unfortunately I'm joining such unfortunate population. -sigh- Despite my search for good deals, the new books I have to buy makes me very sad. Today I went to the bookstore and got the two books I needed to buy new. Stupid ENG112 Custom Package is only a few photocopies and IT COSTS LIKE $33!!!!!! jalj@*HEfdf9#2dffi@I!!!!! -_____________- Now all I'm missing is the ECON 101 book which costs $100 or so. uuuuurrrrgggggggg And to think this is only for term 1. OMG gakdjfaaiefjdk -dies-

iTouch Apps in Quick Review Summer 2011

Summer had always been my cleaning time and this year is no exception. So let's see what I got rid of off my iTunes~~~

• Alarm Clock Radio by Raizlabs Corporation: I now have a clock radio, thanks to my fwends, so don't need it anymore
• Flashlight by John Haney Software: if you turn up screen light really bright, it's the same thing = pointless app unless you want to do light photography which I really don't have another person to do it with

2011-05-05 IMO: World of Magic

Started my little obsession with World of Magic again. It has been a year since I last played (in order to cure my obsession I decided to avoid playing). Now I have no idea how to play again T____T

I actually found IMO: World of Magic wiki page! yoohoo! gotta love the internet. Now I finally know where to go and won't be a wanderer  hehehee :D And it shows you all the monsters, their levels and where can be found. This way I can get the items I needed so much faster! yay :)

2011-02-01 Photographing Water Droplets

I hate it how people always say oh you can't photograph this or that because you have a point and shoot and not a DSLR. Well although that's true most of the time there's also so much you can do with a P&S. So I wanna prove them wrong...those people in photography club. I recently just mastered bokeh on my P&S and recently I found a video on how to photography water droplets. Mann it worked and turned out really cool! Too bad my sink is too ugly. lol

2nd iTouch Apps Goodbye of the Year

Back during March Break of this year, I deleted some iTouch apps and kinda blogged them. Since them, I wasn't as addicted to games as I was before, so it was a good decision to delete them! LOL

Now it's Christmas Break, and I have more time to play around with my ipod. Since the one-year warranty is over, I made the sudden decision of jailbreaking ipod! Yuppers, I jailbreaked it~now I have multitasking function! yay!~~ and I realized I have wayy to many apps on my ipod and many I never use (can't really tell cuz they are all in folders) but I decided to delete some more! So here's my 2nd list of 2010 deleted apps (review) LOL.

iTouch Apps: Goodbyes

Ever since I got my iTouch, I've been downloading apps and apps and more apps -- all legal ones --. Today, I was looking at my iTunes and decided to get rid of some that I will not use again.

1) Rolando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid - Chapter 1
This game was actually really fun: each level had something new and different. I was pretty preoccupied in trying to finish all the levels with all the awards and I did!..for Chapter 1. Too bad the next few chapters are no longer free T__T so I guess I have no need for this app anymore...(I'm not the kind who plays the same game with no changes in the levels over and over again.) Au revoir!~

10. A run-on sentence is a really long sentence. Wrong! They can actually be quite short. In a run-on sentence, independent clauses are squished together without the help of punctuation or a conjunction. If you write I am happy I am glad as one sentence without a semicolon, colon, or dash between the two independent clauses, it’s a run-on sentence even though it only has six words.

9. You shouldn’t start a sentence with the word however. Wrong! It’s fine to start a sentence with however so long as you use a comma after it when it means “nevertheless.”

8. Irregardless is not a word. Wrong! Irregardless is a word in the same way ain’t is a word. They’re informal. They’re nonstandard. You shouldn’t use them if you want to be taken seriously, but they have gained wide enough use to qualify as words.

7. There is only one way to write the possessive form of a word that ends in s. Wrong! It’s a style issue. For example, in the phrase Kansas’s statute, you can put just an apostrophe at the end of Kansas or you can put an apostrophe s at the end of Kansas. Both ways are acceptable.

6. Passive voice is always wrong. Wrong! Passive voice is when you don’t name the person who’s responsible for the action. An example is the sentence “Mistakes were made,” because it doesn’t say who made the mistakes. If you don’t know who is responsible for an action, passive voice can be the best choice.

5. I.e. and e.g. mean the same thing. Wrong! E.g. means “for example,” and i.e. means roughly “in other words.” You use e.g. to provide a list of incomplete examples, and you use i.e. to provide a complete clarifying list or statement.

4. You use a before words that start with consonants and an before words that start with vowels. Wrong! You use a before words that start with consonant sounds and an before words that start with vowel sounds. So, you’d write that someone has an MBA instead of a MBA, because even though MBA starts with m, which is a consonant, it starts with the sound of the vowel e–MBA.

3. It’s incorrect to answer the question “How are you?” with the statement “I’m good.” Wrong! Am is a linking verb and linking verbs should be modified by adjectives such as good. Because well can also act as an adjective, it’s also fine to answer “I’m well,” but some grammarians believe “I’m well” should be used to talk about your health and not your general disposition.

2. You shouldn’t split infinitives. Wrong! Nearly all grammarians want to boldly tell you it’s OK to split infinitives. An infinitive is a two-word form of a verb. An example is “to tell.” In a split infinitive, another word separates the two parts of the verb. “To boldly tell” is a split infinitive because boldly separates to from tell.

1. You shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition. Wrong! You shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition when the sentence would mean the same thing if you left off the preposition. That means “Where are you at?” is wrong because “Where are you?” means the same thing. But there are many sentences where the final preposition is part of a phrasal verb or is necessary to keep from making stuffy, stilted sentences: I’m going to throw up, let’s kiss and make up, and what are you waiting for are just a few examples.

PC Game Obsession: 连锁店大亨－《便利商店》攻略心得

Okay. What if I still play PC games? They're cool! End of story.
I rummage my basement once and twice and dug out this old but still awesome PC Game that I bought 10 years ago from China. Now I'm once again hooked on this, with, of course, more understandings of the game. This game is by FULLSOFT and called "便利商店". Basically you open a convenient store and try not be bankrupt. This is the first time I opened chain stores! 4 of them too! To maximize my playing, I was searching around on the net and found the article below. I now gained so many new tips from it that I never knew about!

Learn Cantonese!

A friend of mine taught me some really really basic Cantonese and wrote down the pronunciations. It's always good to learn new languages though I think I'm too Mando to pronounce these correctly.
