2008 - 2013
It's bittersweet saying goodbye to my first blog.
Thank you for the past 5 years.
You have taught me a lot about blogging and html.
You have documented my growth, my likes, and dislikes.
You shared my thoughts with my friends.
But nothing is forever.
It's time to close this chapter and start something new.

Sometimes it feels like you're entire world is falling apart. You can't do anything right. You suck at life. You're a failure. No matter what you do, it will never work out.

That's how life feels right now.

Here's my long overdue post the SLC 2012 I attended this January. Now with that said, I still didn't get my money back for my free registration. Can't say I'm having a best impression of them so far. Anyhow the conference itself succeeded my expectation in their choice of guest speakers but overall I feel it's just as useless as all the other leadership conferences. At least to me. These conferences and workshops never seem to work on me in teaching me things or inspiring me.

Okay recap.

The man in the photo was the mystery man of our campus. Every time you go to SUB, you will always see him in his car reading the newspaper, from morning to night. He never bothered anyone nor do a lot of people know about him. Where he live, why he is here. But to all of our surprise, he passed away today. To think last friday was the last time I saw him makes me a bit sad. The news is really a reality check that life goes on. We really have to appreciate the people around us while we can and cherish the moments we have with each other.

Earlier this year I was obsessed with this drama called "Pasta". (blog post here) However due to various circumstances (well really just no time) I couldn't finish it until now. I can confidently say this is my favorite drama of all times. This drama is so funny and adorable you just can't help not loving it. It makes me want to smile 24/7.

“You attend the best school in the best city in the best country in the world. Be confident in your ability but approach everything with a heavy sense of humility because everyone here is just as intelligent as you. Assume nothing.” – R. Gateman
This man is really something. As a professor, he is a confident and knowledgeable lecturer. During his last class, I was a bit sad his lecturers are over. But his exams are soooo hard TT__TT I mean for my final the first question, worth 10 marks, is about UFO's and how to make this person a disbeliever of UFOs?  I surely don't miss his exams but right now that seems a bit difficult. It appears I have to take Econ 102 and the only class available right now is Gateman's Wednesday night class. As much as I love him as a professor, I DON'T WANT TO TAKE HIS CLASS! My perfect plan was to take another prof's exam but still go to Gateman lectures. urg. I hope I have another prof for Econ 102. please please please >__<

I officially finished all my exams for this first term of uni today. Freedom never felt sooooo good :) I honestly had never studied so much in my life before T__T Last week was the worst, 4 exams in one week with 3 back to back and one on SATURDAY. urgh I was so tired by Saturday~ pretty sure I did very poorly on that math midterm QQ Today I did my Bio 112 which I have no idea how I did. I just hope I didn't fail. lol

Aside from that, yes blog I know I have neglected you even since university started in September. At first I thought I would be an eager blogger updating every second of my new life. Sadly I guess too much things happened at once and I just never found the time to do so. I shall now attempt to recall the highlights of this past term xP

Still can't believe I got a work-study job. -squeal- I heard it was really competitive and is really hard for first years to get it so I was worried. I actually thought of several options. First, go for library because 1) I have the experience so I have to best chance of getting it as compared with something I had never done before 2) the pay is ridiculously good 3) it's easy and less tiring. Then I really wanted to work in REC thinking I can get benefits. You don't really get any benefits so then I didn't want to work there anymore. lol My last resort was getting a job at Starbucks or McDonalds in the village. But it's tiring so I was hesitant. Honestly speaking, I was greedy too. After getting used to be paid ~$10/hr, I feel useless getting a job with wages less than that. That's such a bad thought :( especially since min wage are lower here. -sigh-  If I can't get a campus job I doubt I'll work at all then since the campus is pretty secluded from the rest of the world. ... But here am I, blogging about my hiring experience :D Here's a brief overview:

*sob sob* I can't believe I actually went back a page and lost everything I blogged. Hate the new Blogger interface which didn't save drafts automatically like before. urg I'm switching back :( And have to reblog again....

It's been a long while since I last followed Korean variety shows. The last one was the Adams couple on WGM...I was pretty obsessed for a while. The biggest reason I don't spend a lot of time watching is because I can't seem to get myself to just sit and stare at my computer for subs. It just felt unproductive. Which is why I gave up on watching dramas. Heck I'm not even watching "Protect the Boss" and Jaejoong is in it. I'm such a bad fan T_T

Anyhow, a few months ago I tried to follow Kim Yuna's Kiss&Cry. At first I really liked it because it's different and it has Kim Yuna (of course), Son Dam Bi, Yunho, IU, and Krystal in it. But after a few episodes there's not much variety and things got boring (not to mention it was hard to find subbed episodes). I know not to have high expectation but I just couldn't help it after a few episodes in. While there are some good skaters, others not so much. And after watching this I really don't like Krystal. I feel that she gives off this haughty aura...and she glares too much. In the end Kiss&Cry didn't work out for me and I had to say goodbye.

Then just recently, during a random youtube watching session, I encountered Immortal Song 2.

Having gotten a place after been wait-listed I was expecting this Freshman Tour Welcome to be really exciting and fun. It turned out to be the lamest thing I had ever attended. What is fun? No. Did I learn anything? No. Did I find any cool places on campus? No. This entire Amazing Race thing is so childish. I feel like a junior high kid. All you do is go to places (you don't even know what the place is for), do some random activity (the stupidest was in the library looking for people...I felt so bad for the students who were actually using the library to do work cuz we were so loud) and earn points and go to the next station. lame lame lame. And the biggest thing that bothered me was their recruitment. I kind of got what DP do now but they never emphasize on that. They just kept saying how if you join today membership is $8 and not $10 and they can provide volunteer experience that'll look good on resume. Uh well can you describe your events? your future goals? and the main philosophy of the organization first? Not to mention they delayed the event for an entire hour. You can't even meet a lot of new people other than the people in your team in which they are all friends with each other already (went to the same high school). In conclusion, I'm not going to waste $10 and join DP and the afternoon was a waste of time.

I want to own the university bookstore. They make so much money through ripping off poor students. This is why students are always so poor :( Unfortunately I'm joining such unfortunate population. -sigh- Despite my search for good deals, the new books I have to buy makes me very sad. Today I went to the bookstore and got the two books I needed to buy new. Stupid ENG112 Custom Package is only a few photocopies and IT COSTS LIKE $33!!!!!! jalj@*HEfdf9#2dffi@I!!!!! -_____________- Now all I'm missing is the ECON 101 book which costs $100 or so. uuuuurrrrgggggggg And to think this is only for term 1. OMG gakdjfaaiefjdk -dies-

At the current moment I feel that my rage at myself can make me self-destruct. This careless error is irreversible and forever damaging and I hate myself for it. I can't get over it and this feeling honestly feels worse than been forever unemployed. I screwed up my perfect plan and ruined everything and anything possible. I'm irritated at how I can't even fix it right now because no one's working!! uuuuurrrgggg. Without fixing this I can never properly do anything else. Damn.

Met up with Jess and went to Robson St. Didn't do much shopping~ mostly walked around and looked around. What's so great about Robson St anyways. It just has a lot of store...without any sales in them >__< lol but it's nice just walking around downtown! I had never been to downtown before!

Also visited the Pacific Center there. It's soooo small @__@ After getting used to WEM the only other mall I can shop at is probably Metrotown now. lol. Oh and finally found UO!!!! It's on Granville St by Robson? Well the store locator on their web sure has some problems since it's a different address :( And I found the tote bag I wanted!!! (even though it says online only online ...). It's really sturdy and nice...and $10 more expensive than online but doesn't have $40 shipping. But I think I'll wait until my taobao stuff comes and decide if I still needed it :)

Oh my I'm so exhausted right now. Today I traveled across greater Vancouver to get all my textbooks for uni. And was the first time I'm taking the transit system here. Have to say it was quite a day~and so hot too! >___<

Here's a recap on my adventures:
First I went to Richmond to get my bio texts. At first I planned to go there last because the bio texts (3 volumes!!) are really heavy but my mom told me she can pick me up in Metrotown which means I won't have to go back to Richmond to take transit and get home. Therefore, I arranged to meet around 10AM and get the bio first. THEN mom said she can't pick me up anymore but I already made plans which means I have to carry the three hunky heavy texts with me all day...which I did. oh my poor shoulders =__=
Just watched Jane Eyre, the miniseries by BBC. Unfortunately because it's TV version, it's not listed on Flixster so I think I'll just do a quick review here.

I first heard of Jane Eyre from my PA class. In my first year they did a song from there but I didn't really know what the story was about. Out of curiosity, I borrowed the DVD from the library. For some reason I kept thinking Jane Austen. lol. Anyhow it was a good thing I did because I loved it very much. The cast was amazing. I like Toby Stephen's Mr. Rochester very much. And Ruth Wilson's Jane Eyre fitted very well with, what I like to call Mr. Rochester, the beast. The cinematography was a pleasure pleasure to watch and it had the right amount of the various elements of Jane's life. The various foreshadowing of the twist in the ending was nicely done in the film. The best part of the movie has definitely got to be the story itself. Though I'm not too sure if I want to read the book yet. Apparently this film shortened the beginning part of her childhood and the ending after leaving the Rochester's house. I, in fact, like the change and enjoyed more of her experience in the Thornfield (perhaps it's because of Mr. Rochester lol). I think I'll wait a bit on the reading. But I'm so curious of the musical! Too bad we didn't do it during my three years of PA.

For the past few days I've been looking for school supplies, including a new bag for school. I saw this really gorgeous one online in Urban Outfitters but it turned out to be online only (see bag here). Well that's not too bad right? The reviews are really good so I'm not worried about the quality. As one of their promotion event, UO has a flat shipping rate of $10. I thought that was kind of expensive and was thinking of waiting for free shipping. But then that might never happen so I decided to buy it. Successfully got the bag? NOOOOOOOOOOO. UO decides to be discriminatory against Canadian = the $10 flat shipping rate doesn't apply to Canada. I thought $10 was expensive right? Well guess how much UO decides to charge Canadians? $40!!!! #*#$@&@)# There ends my getting-a-new-and-awesome-bag dream. If only I know someone living in Seattle. Then I can get sooo much things for a cheaper price T___T if only if only~~~
